Caroline Weller founded the label in 2013 in Jaipur, India, where she’s lived for 15 years with her family. Formerly a designer at major brands like Calvin Klein, Armani, and J.Crew. Trips to the Jaipur markets opened her eyes to mind-boggling crafts and techniques that have been passed down through generations: “I found these museum-quality textiles with unbelievable weaving and embroidery, and it took my breath away,” Weller tells Vogue on the phone from her factory. “After so many years in New York, I started to get this feeling that everything was becoming so homogenized, between fast fashion and the constant [cycle] of trends. But here in Jaipur, it’s the opposite—everything is slow. Some fabrics take weeks or a month to finish, and I thought, ‘What happened to the idea that something worth having is worth waiting for?’
